6th July 2021 — CodinGame analysed more than 300,000 custom-built tests carried out by company recruiters on its platform CodinGame for Work, during the first half of 2021, to evaluate developers’ skill sets for specific tech roles.
Assessment tests are hands-on technical tests which provide employers with clear, concise candidate result reports, and make it easy to shortlist the best profiles. Candidates are invited to offer solutions to real-life problems they could face at work.
Analysing these tests, CodinGame was able to see which skills – technologies, frameworks and programming languages – were requested most often by recruiters and which were trending upwards the fastest based on growing demand from recruiters.
Looking specifically at trending skills, six of the top 10 fastest trending skills in 2021 to date, are technologies – Docker, QA, Linux, Jenkins, AWS and Kubernetes – that are all relevant to DevOps positions.
Docker is the top trending technology in 2021 according to recruiter testing. Docker is an open platform for developing, shipping and running applications, which is used in the deployment stage of the DevOps ecosystem.
The following list is the top 10 trending technologies and frameworks, based on recruiter testing, in the first six months of 2021:

“When we surveyed global HR professionals at the end of 2020, almost half admitted that DevOps would be the hardest position to fill in 2021 due to exceptionally high demand.

“More recruiters are testing developers for skills relevant to DevOps and this trend shows no sign of slowing in the near future, with a global switch to remote working driving demand.
