It is a great game, and it is possible do define an optimal strategy in order to maximise the expected outcome. That said, when people achieve this optimization, there is nothing they can do to perform better than someone else, unless the universe (=random seed) allows it. It is sad also that the kept dice do not count in the combinations. You cannot expect to do a really greater score than what you have currently. In fact: Probability of loss with 1 die: 4 / 6 = 66.67% Expected value: 25.0 Probability of loss with 2 dice: 16 / 36 = 44.44% Expected value: 50.0 Probability of loss with 3 dice: 61 / 216 = 28.24% Expected value: 84.0 Probability of loss with 4 dice: 217 / 1296 = 16.74% Expected value: 133.3 Probability of loss with 5 dice: 706 / 7776 = 9.08% Expected value: 202.0 Probability of loss with 6 dice: 2074 / 46656 = 4.45% Expected value: 313.4 Also, it is impossible to know (unless you only "pass") your current score, or wether the previous rolls were good or not. If you knew the number of points of your opponent, you may define the strategy depending on the number of points you miss to win, or if there is enough difference to be a little more risky maybe?

Thank you for your feedback. I start thinking about changing some of the rules: - define a maximal number of round instead of the fix score of 10000 points - count kept dices in combinations once a player reach 10000 points - give more info on the current scores Do you think these changes would improve the gaming experience?

I agree with Butanium, this is not a multiplyer game. I suggest you change this to optimization problem and change the scoring to the normal rules of the game Yahtzee. https://en.wikipedia.org/... Then we can write bots on who will finish all 13 Yahtzee categories with largest score.

Thank you for your feedback. Regarding the question of whether this is a multiplayer game, maybe i'm wrong but it seems that the game meets the description in the documentation: [...] Bot programming games are multiplayer games with a game loop. There are no test cases to pass. The goal is not to output a solution but to create a bot (an AI) capable of playing a game in the given environment. Participants play against themselves in matches of 2 to 4 players in an arena. Once players submit their code (AI) in the arena, the system matches them against other players of the arena. Each match between players impacts their score, hence their ranking. [...] However, your suggestion is interesting: it's possible to turn the game into an optimization game, or to implement the Yahtzee rules. But in that case, I'd rather do it in a new contribution, as this one has received some positive votes and is awaiting approval.

All sections * Please change "dices" to "dice" (it's the plural form and you needn't add "s"). Rules * Please add a full-stop after the 2nd sentence. * I don't understand the third sentence. Do you mean "The player may choose to {{pass}} and score the points, or re-roll the dice"? If so, please rewrite it that way. * To be consistent and use "player" instead of "you" throughout the explanation, suggest to rewrite the 4th sentence as: To re-roll (instead of "replay") the dice, the player must keep at least one of the dice. * Suggest to delete "Each additional number identical to the one making up a three of a kind doubles the value of the combination immediately below it." because it looks confusing, and also a clearer explantion is available below the bullet-point list of points. * Suggest to change "a straight of 2" to "a five of 2". * Suggest to move "For a combination to count, it must be obtained in a single throw." to its own paragraph below "1500 points" so that the discussion of the possible points to score is not broken into two parts. * Suggest to delete "in a single throw" after "4, 5 and 6". After moving the sentence about "in a single throw" above, it should be clear that the requirement applies to all combinations, and it isn't necessary to mention it specifically for the 1-2-3-4-5-6 sequence. Game input * Please delete "The program must first read the initialization data from standard input. Then, provide to the standard output one line with "pass" or a list of kept dices". This is because there isn't any initialization data, and the second sentence is about output, not input. Input * Line 2: Please add "space-separated" after "a string of". Output * Please change "integer" to "integers". * It's weird that I must output "pass" instead of all the dice to indicate that I want to keep all the dice (the console says I lose points for keeping all the dice because the game considers me to re-roll nothing and hence no combination is achieved on re-roll!). It seems more natural to just require an output of what dice to keep all the time without using "pass". But oh well, this is a choice of design. Constraints * That is not a constraint on the game. It's a rule on what output is valid. Please delete it. Console messages * It's a bit weird to use the word "Board" in the game summary because this doesn't look like a board game. * Suggest to change "his" to "the" because the player may not be necessarily male. * Please change "lose" to "lost" (because "won" is used in the corresponding message of winning), and also suggest to add the reason ("invalid command"?) to the console message. In addition * Suggest to add sections on Victory and Defeat conditions (example for reference: https://www.codingame.com/... ). Thanks.

Thank you very much for this detailed comment, it will greatly improve my contribution! As for the "pass" output, I'll wait a bit to get other people's opinions on this particular design choice.
