2 hours
of captivating coding challenges
30
Comet’ communities across France and Europe
650
euros raised for charity
There’s a reason Extia’s engineering consulting firm is this year’s #1 Great Place To Work® in France.
Faced with the unprecedented working conditions imposed by Covid-19, Extia needed a way to keep their remote teams in touch and in tune with each other. Their solution? A programming challenge that united over 30 developers in 30 different Comet’ by Extia communities, with a common cause beyond just work.
“We found the interactive format we were looking for with CodinGame’s Clash of Code.”

The challenge
Extia has 30 tech exchange groups – Comet’ by Extia – spread across France and Europe. With Covid-19 preventing their regular lunch/evening meetups, Extia wanted to:
- Maintain the effervescent group dynamic of their Comet’ by Extia business communities during lockdown
- Create an online event that would spark genuine interest and excitement among their teams in France and Europe
“The health crisis majorly changed our work logistics and we weren’t sure how we were going to keep our communities alive and buzzing.”

Operational Efficiency Manager
The solution
After considering webinars and remote conferences, Extia organizers realized they wanted something less conventional and more interactive. A CodinGame Clash of Code tournament was the perfect fit!
April 23, 2020: For two intense hours, 34 Extia developers across France and Europe matched wits in fierce coding matches. Each “clash” (5-15 minute mini coding competitions) was a battle of wit, speed and strategy – and the best choice of programming language!
Fun fact: The winner—winning 32 clashes!— thinks Python is the way to go…
Tournament organizers said the event was extremely easy to set up. CodinGame took care of all the technical details, and all they had to do was promote the occasion!
The results
The event sparked so much enthusiasm that participants are already asking, “When’s the next one?”
Tournament organizers are thrilled that their Clash of Code tournament:
- Provided the interactive format they were looking for—one that engages and encourages everyone to actively participate and brings their teams together in a fun yet challenging event
- Was the first event able to bring all of Extia’s widespread developer communities together at once
- Raised 650 euros to help people affected by Covid-19!
